I've actually used the services at www.freeipods.com, and I'm happy to say that while it's a pain, it does work.
Basically, in order to get a "free" iPod, you'll need to complete an offer-usually, getting a credit card or a subscription to a website like Columbia House, which you can cancel-and get a few friends to do the same thing.
That's the tough part.
You see, my friends like me-they really do-but not enough to get a new credit card for me. Not even enough to watch some DVDs from Blockbuster Online.
Getting your friends to go through with some of the offers on sites like FreeIpods.com is next to impossible, but if you've got a lot of patience and don't mind being a total pain to everyone in your life for a few weeks, a real, shiny new iPod will arrive at your door within a few weeks of completing your side of the bargain.
There are some sites that will try to scam you, so I'd stick with freeipods.com or another site that you can find a personal recommendation for-the free iPods are out there, folks. Step up and get one.
