Money in America
The obsessive quest for money in America has infiltrated every level of people, corporations, government and even religious sects. America's economy across the board is suffering; loss of jobs, stock markets plunging, housing market eroding and the federal deficit is beyond, out of control. What a frightening scenario for most Americans, but everyone need look at how they may have contributed. It is not enough for families today to be satisfied with providing basics for themselves and their children;once a comfortable home, car, food and going to a doctor were considered plentiful. Americans were satisfied with these basics of life; the American dream; over the last thirty years this was not enough for the average American. Americans needed to have more and bigger of everything cars, houses, vacation homes, boats, swimming pools, and just having a General Practioner wasn't enough; the specialists came in with unnecessary procedures such as plastic surgery for almost every area of the body. Excessive luxury became a necessity. When did Americans stop becoming happy with having their needs met and needing to have luxuries met? Foods had to be more exotic and going out to dinner a few times a week became the norm. Every fundamental aspect of American lives exceeded basics needs. No more was it enough to provide basics, one television for a family, there needed to be televisions in every room, and in cars. The air filling the proverbial bubble kept expanding. This booming expanse continued to the first indication of trouble by market drops in the early 90's; that was a warning sign for Americans and government to take notice since markets are indicators of the economy and how well the country is doing. Everything continued and government ignored indicators and the bubble grew even larger with more Americans wanting not just the American dream but the fantasy; and as fantasies go, they never have a happy ending. The greed and quest for more money fed this fantasy. Indicators continued to be ignored with incredible inflation of real estate markets out of control, unethical trading on Wall Street without consideration of consequences, government spending on the Iraqi war causing more inflation, which devalued the dollar; more money, greed, power and the country was at a disastrous climax. Many were not satisfied with what they had and the villain of all problems, love of money; how to get, use it, own it, and then hold onto it. Americans needed to
