Making money on the internet is growing in popularity especially nowadays with unemployment rising and the economy faltering. Being able to make a living sitting in front of one's computer for a few hours per day is an attractive prospect indeed but it isn't that easy. While it is possible to pick up a few extra bucks with minimal effort, the average person is not going to get rich or even replace their regular income working online, however you can definitely pick up a little extra cash.

The easiest things to start doing online that require no investment, minimal time and effort is paid to read email and paid surveys. Most people just getting started usually give both a try.

There are many, many paid to read email sites out there with some being legitimate and some being scams. There are a couple of sites out there that will help you in determining which is which. The first one is beenpaid.com that lists sites that are paying and the other is GPTboycott.com which lists sites that are known scams or that are having financial problems and not paying their members. I recommend checking with both sites if you plan on getting involved with paid to read email.

I'll also give you a tip about evaluating a good paid to read email site. Take a look at their terms of service and find out what the minimum payout level is. The minimum payout level is the dollar amount you must reach in earnings before they will actually pay you. If it is high, such as $20 or more, I would recommend you don't bother with them. Most sites with high payout levels don't intend on paying their members. They will make money for as long as they can and then when people start getting close to being paid, they will close down and disappear.

Paid email used to be more popular some years back when they first started. A lot of advertisers made use of the concept of having a ready and willing audience for their ads at relatively low cost but as time passed, they realized that while paid emails got people to their websites, the conversion rates (visitors that actually bought what was being advertised) were low as most were just clicking the link to get paid from the paid to read program so advertisers aren't using them like they used to.

If you want to give it a try though, look for sites with payout levels with no minimum or very low such as $1 or less. There are legitimate companies with payout levels this low so you can get paid every month. For example, Quick Rewards has no minimum payout and they pay
