College studies for younger students: Success and failure stories

In a single word, college means freedom to many students. Away from parents, friends you have known for years, and a curfew. For those of you reading this that disregard old fashioned insight thinking this is some stuffy old person- I am currently a senior in college, wishing I could go back and start all over. It is important to remember that college is the time for reinventing yourself; you can now become whomever and whatever you want. Your image from high school, assuming you went away for college, has been erased. You are no longer the jock, nerd, slut, or slacker you were back home. Take your time in college to think about what really is important to you, and achieve it. Who cares if you were the infamous student in high school that no one ever forgot about some really stupid thing you did, or if you slept around or hurt your best friend- now is your time to change, grow up, and leave immaturity behind. Really do become involved- join a club, sorority or fraternity, or an on-campus job. Treat the people you meet as if they really will be your friends for life, because in all reality they might be in your wedding. Don't forget classes are important, but you are too, and this is the time to decide and make yourself into whatever it is you want to be.
