Having been both a guest and an employee at SeaWorld San Antonio for many years, I always figured I knew the park pretty well. As a guest when I was younger, I went to every show and attraction religiously (much to the delight of my parents I'm sure), and as an employee for four years, I learned the ins and outs of the park.
As a guest of the park, you can purcahse either single or two day passes. Adults and children over the age of two can buy a one day pass for $43.50, or a two day pass for $52.99 for adults, and $44.50 for children ages 3 - 9. There are also group discounts available, as well as military discounts.
When SeaWorld is mentioned, the first thing that comes to most people's minds is Shamu. The killer whales seem to be the most popular attractions at all three SeaWorld parks. Because of this, most of the shows during the summer months are very crowded, especially on Saturdays and the Summer Nights shows. However, in my time as an employee, that was also the show I heard the most complaints about, as many guests were disappointed with it.
There are other shows at the park that have received far better reviews. The White Whale and Dophin Stadium is home to Viva, offering performers interacting closely with dolphins and Beluga whales, while the water-ski show offers some light hearted fun. The storyline is always corny, but the skiers are some of the top ranked in the country. There is also Waggin Tales, which features some more common household pets and the 4-D Theatre, home to a four dimensional pirate show. However, the most popular show seems to be the Cannery Row Caper, featuring sea lions Clyde and Seymour. Sea lions, walruses and otters interact with their trainers in a hilarious show that seems to be the favorit of both children and adults.
But the shows aren't everything at SeaWorld. I can't give an honest opinion of the two rollercoasters because I refuse to go on any rollercoaster, but both the Great White and the Steel Eel always seemed to be popular with both guests and employees. The Texas Splashdown and the Journey to Atlantis are both water rides and roller coasters, and the lines can seem endless. Then there is the Rio Loco, which is the tamest of all the rides. For anyone who does not like the speed and height of roller coasters, this one is for you. If the kids not big enough to ride any of these are feeling left out, take them over to Shamu's Happy Harbor, which is full of rides and games just for kids. But if you need a little rest
