When asked about the ideal workplace, you may find that many people agree it is from their home. There are many benefits from working from the comfort of your home, along with disadvantages too. In the long run, the good pays off in the end. I have worked from home for 8 months now, and I absolutely love it.
The Pros
-Getting to stay home with your family
-Not having to pay a babysitter
-Getting to set your own schedule
-Work at your own pace
-Feel accomplished while doing what you love
-Getting to spend more time on yourself, which is always a plus
-Not wasting gas money to and from the office
-Being able to take a lunch break or go to the restroom whenever you need to
-Still being able to have a work ethic while being there entirely for your family which makes you feel like you have to sacrifice less to have the best of both worlds
The Cons
-Sometimes the pay doesn't seem like it's worth the time you put into it
-It can actually be nice working away from the home as tension can build and nerves can unravel
-Not getting to socialize with co-workers
-Being looked at differently for having an "unconventional" job
As you can see, the good far outweighs the bad. Over all it's great working from home. In the end it's up to you as far as what the ideal workplace may be. For me, working from home gives me a great sense of pride as I can still be there for my newborn, and my school aged child too. I can schedule my work day around doctors visits and school plays. It gives me the freedom that I need since raising small children is tough enough on it's own. It's also great for those with disabilities that find it hard to work in certain environments.
You may be surprised that it can be great for a relationship too. My husband also has a great sense of pride in what I do, and he loves the fact that I can be there for him and the children. We can schedule our days off together and this gives us more family time which makes everything so much better.
As long as you are doing what you love and you are comfortable in your work environment, that's all that really matters in the end!
