Working from home means you can make money in more than one way and get paid from more than one source. The best way to make money is to create multiple streams of income. You can build up a good income online in addition to other work you do at home, or you can earn entirely from working online.

Whatever your main occupation, you should have your own blog, or a webpage, to promote your activities online. This can be a simple profile page or a fully interactive business site. A blog is useful for networking, and for promoting your online business or affiliate links.

You can sign up for free to become an affiliate or agent for a particular product or service, or join an affiliate network, and select what you want to promote from a wide range of products and services. Choose products or services that match the theme of your website or blog.

Any website or blog can be used to earn extra money if you host paid advertising on it. You can show banners on your pages, or choose an advertising program, like Google Adsense, which embeds relevant adverts into any webpage or blog.

If you enjoy blogging, and writing in general, you can build up a passive income from article sites where you are paid for page views. You can receive regular payments from sites where your articles get viewed.

You can make additional income from writing by providing website content. This is a good way to get into the freelance writing market.

As a freelancer you can join a number of freelance job sites, where you can bid on projects and apply for jobs on a freelance basis. You can also join webmaster forums to find work, and to offer your services to webmasters.

If you want to sell items online for a profit, you can become a reseller of products such as software, games, e-books and courses. These can easily be downloaded instantly, avoiding shipping costs. You may prefer to set up your own online store, or to purchase a ready made site to promote products and earn commission from sales.

If you enjoy promoting, and you know how to attract active referrals, there are numerous sites offering you the opportunity to gain from building a downline. Some of these require a joining fee or payment before you can start to earn money, and caution should be taken before you sign up for them.

Never accept what a money making site tells you. It is essential to check up on any scheme before joining. Use search results and forums to find out which ones are scams, and discover which one are more likely to be profitable. You may be competing against thousands of other members promoting the same scheme, so do think carefully before choosing this type of work.

If you intend to start your own independent business from home, use some or all of the various options to provide multiple streams of income. That way your earnings will never dry up completely, and you do not have to rely on any one method of making money working from home.
