Poetry: Never look back

by Carol Gioia

Created on: March 04, 2009   Last Updated: May 08, 2011

There's a special place
in the depths of each mind
for storing ruminations,
and remorse of any kind.

Moments have passed,
laments have failed,
milk has spilled,
ships have sailed.

Gather up the qualms,
anguish and regrets,
put them neatly away,
resolving to forget.

Exit the mental state
reserved for self-pity,
close the drawer, lock the door,
throw away the key.
