Are Murder Sentences Fair?

To whom are murder sentences fair?

Envision if you will Saturday night game 7 of the 2007 World Series is blaring on the television. A young man 23 years old at home with his dad watching their beloved Red Sox clobber the Indians 11-2. The two of them hooting and cheering congratulating one another as if they themselves had just pulled of the win. With celebration on his mind, the young man told his dad he was going out for a drive. Adam grabbed his keys flashed that smile that once seen could not be forgotten and headed out the door.

At 2:00 am Sunday his father reached Adam on his cell phone. Adam told his dad he was at a party with friends he had just met. That was the last time anyone ever heard from Adam.

The sheriff's office continued to investigate a murder after finding a body in a burning SUV. "If you're not in the driver's seat of the car, the cars on the side of the road and the car burst into flames and there's an accelerant inside the vehicle that was used to initiate the fire - that's not an accident," said a Lieutenant of the Sheriff's Office. It would be days until the badly burnt body could be identified through dental records at the coroner's office.

In the late morning on Tuesday the Sheriffs office held a press conference to say that they had absolutely no idea what happened to Adam. They don't know who killed him and left his body in the back of his burning Lexus SUV 29 miles from his home.

Less than 24 hours after the Sheriffs Office stated they didn't have any leads, thanks to a tip to Crime Stoppers from a "friend" of one of the murderers the arrests quickly began. Cesar was the first to be arrested. According to the friend Cesar was bragging to him about how and why he killed Adam. After the police questioned Cesar, Abenemar was arrested and then the third and final arrest of Dallas was made.

According to reports Cesar and Abenemar pulled into a convenience store to buy beer. At the same time Adam pulled into the parking lot in his Lexus. Contreras struck up a conversation with Adam and invited him back to his house. From his own account, once they arrived back to the house Cesar began acting crazy. Adam told him he was "loony". Witnesses say that Cesar became enraged and began beating Adam, others joined in. Adam was beaten and tortured repeatedly for approximately 6 hours almost to the point of death. At which time they decide to "end his suffering" and shoot and kill him! Later they wrapped him up in the blood
