Self healing and illness prevention starts with what you eat. The typical diet is high in salt, fat and empty calories. We are getting enough food to eat but the quality of the food we are eating is causing an epidemic of obesity and disease.
Lack Of Proper Nutrition
Our bodies require proper vitamins and minerals to function properly. Fast food, soda, and heavily processed foods are being consumed in high amounts. These foods lack the necessary nutrition we need to function properly, yet they are high in empty calories which our bodies turn into unwanted fat. Too many diets are high in these foods. This is usually caused by a very hectic lifestyle and lack of time for many people. A typical fast food meal contains more fat and empty calories then proper nutrition.
How to Get Healthier
We can heal our bodies and prevent many diseases and chronic conditions by eating a whole food diet. A diet should consist of fruit, vegetables, lean meat, fish, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. These foods give our bodies the best defenses against disease. Fruits and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants which protect our cells from damage and provide fiber for our bowel health. Fish provide powerful Omega 3 fatty acids which can help protect our heart and these Omega 3s are also found in nuts and seeds. Unlike white bread products, whole grains contain fiber and more vitamins and minerals. The secret to a healthy diet is to eat more of these whole natural foods and less processed junk food. A diet rich in these healthy foods will help to prevent disease and may even help conditions you may already have. Consume more water as well to keep your body hydrated.
Seeking out natural healing can be another way of self healing and disease prevention. Many conditions can be helped with herbs and other methods. Seeing a doctor is still recommended but it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion and do some research for yourself. The more educated you are about any illness you have the better you can fight it.
Exercise
Our bodies require movement to help prevent disease and keep us strong. When you exercise your body is able to fight disease, and weight loss can occur. Exercise helps to strengthen the heart and lungs as well as your muscles. Even a few minutes a day can help with healing and illness prevention. When someone has been badly injured, exercise is usually started as soon as they begin to get better to help them heal faster. When I injured my back I started walking as soon as I could tolerate the pain. Although it was still painful, I gradually began to feel better because I was stretching the damaged muscles out. A simple activity like walking can really help you stay stronger and healthier.
We need proper nutrition and exercise to stay healthy and prevent disease. All the pills, powders, and potions cannot replace a healthy diet that contains exercise. Seek out alternative methods if you are sick and learn all you can about your condition.
