10 ways to identify keywords that really drive conversions

There are many ways to use keyword conversions or keyword rankings to harness the true power of a search engine. Here are ten of the most useful ways to use keyword conversions or keyword rankings to your advantage.

1. Its Not What You Want, Its The Consumer

You have to be in the mindset of a consumer to fully understand how they would go about searching for a product. You need to look at your sales and figure out which words the ads have in common and try to use that to your advantage.

2. Phrase Match

Phrase matching is an important tool for use on search engines because of the fact that there are so many people using them. If you can use an effective phrase to describe a product, then more than likely you will move increased quantities of a product.

3. Take the Long Road

This means you need to use longer keyword phrases to narrow down the competition in your favour. Keyword conversions improve with a longer search idea than with a short phrase or just a single word. Identify a keyword phrase that you would search for if you were searching for your product.

4. The Mind Game

The Mind Game is a strategic tool used to entice a consumer to click your ad rather than the competition. By using adjectives and a personal touch in your ads, the consumer will be more likely to click your ads.

5. Negative Keywords and Their Effect

Some keywords will not work in a certain ad, in fact, they drive potential customers away. Try to identify these keywords quickly. Remember, the goal is sales, not just traffic through clicks.

6. Indirect Marketing

About 40% of people will search for one specific product and end up buying a different brand or a completely different product altogether. Most consumers are not sure what they want, they are easily persuaded. Create ads that push less popular products but link to popular products.

7. Push Your Site

Do not just advertise your product, advertise your site just as much.

8. Creation is Where it all Began

Do not be afraid to create a website thats sole purpose it to promote your site. In fact, create a few, or ten. Make a site that "reviews" your site. List multiple good qualities and its typical to have one negative view. Be sure it is not a big negative. Something small will do.

9. Direct Marketing

This is just what its name implies. Advertising your site using keywords that sell your product. Plain, simple, to the point. Use product specific words and remember to Phrase Match.

10. Experimentation is Key

Do not be afraid to experiment. You are not going to become a wizard over-night. It Will take some time. Just remember to check your ads often. Improving your keyword ranking/keyword conversions is fairly easy to do. To be completely effective, you will need to monitor your keywords closely for a couple months. Once you start to understand the consumer, the business of placing profitable ads will come easy to you.
