Why do women cry?

Why do women cry? Simply put, they cry as a way of expressing their emotions. The act of crying is completely tied to a person's emotional state.

Just as men slam doors to express anger or frustration, women tend to cry to release an emotion. The emotion itself varies, though.

One of the most common emotions conveyed by tears is sadness. Women cry when their feelings are hurt. They cry when a relationship ends. They cry during a poignant scene in a movie. Crying indeed is one of the first reactions women have when deeply saddened.

Women do not only cry when sad, though. Oftentimes, when a woman is angered, she will burst into tears. She may have compressed her rage for several minutes, but then it comes rushing out through a sea of tears.

Women also tend to cry when they feel guilty about something. Shame and guilt are intertwined, and they both can lead to a crying jag.

Tears also come easily when a woman has been frightened by something. If she has been mugged, for example, she may cry when recounting the event.

Women often cry when in physical pain, too, or when sick. It is a natural reaction to break down when going through such difficulties.

There is one other main reason that a woman may cry, but it is somewhat more manipulative in nature. Most women know that men cannot stand to see a woman cry, and will almost always cave in and give a crying woman what she wants.

As a result, some women cry in order to get their way. They may cry as a reason to give someone a guilt trip. The expression "crocodile tears" refers to fake tears, and sometimes these are manufactured in situations in which a woman feels that the tears may serve as a weapon in a battle of wills.

In conclusion, there are many reasons that women cry, but almost all of them are tied to some form of emotion, whether it be sadness, anger, shame, jealousy or fear. They may cry out of pain, or they may cry when they are not up to par.

One thing to note about tears, though, is that crying is not always a bad thing. Typically, people feel much better after a good cry.

There is something quite cathartic about a crying jag. Somehow, through the act of crying, certain feelings are admitted or released. It's not the least bit uncommon for a problem or situation to somehow seem more appeased after a woman cries, even if nothing obvious has changed.

It is after a cry, and getting it all out, that women often get the perspective they need to carry on with their lives. Crying is often a part of the healing process, and it can truly be a positive thing.
