It may appear that the writing team of Lost has gone off the deep end in relation where their show will end up. It is hard to imagine they will tie up all of the loose ends in unanswered questions before the end of the show. If you visit some of the theory boards you will find a multitude of opinions on where the show is going. Personally I think the show is about everything they said it isn't about as put to them singularly in interviews and Q&A. I think we will find out it is about everything all rolled up into a giant massive plot. Everything from paranormal to lost civilizations. The characters will also end up changed from their former selves and perhaps be introduced back into the real world transformed. At least this is my hope, I could be wrong.
I think the writers are listening to it's fan base and trying to deliver what is being asked for. The plot twists are exciting, you don't really know who the bad guys are, and who is good. Just when you think Ben is good you see him do something outrageous! When you think Widmore is bad, he does something good. I think this is one of the factors that keep the Lost fan's tuning in every week religiously. The time travel aspect is hard for me to wrap my mind around, but I trust the writers to iron out the insane idea into something viewers can understand. The writers use real names of past historical people like Magnus Hanso and Valenzetti, the latter of the Valenzetti equation that he devised as a possible end of the world scenario, they are a bit hard for the average viewer to grasp, but we can only hope they finish the story so every one of their fans are satisfied.
Hopefully soon the show will get back onto a track with a focus to start answering the questions viewers have, and stop adding more. Introduction of new characters is not really a bad thing, but too many can be dangerous, and viewers will start to tune out to look at stories that have a raliable cast of characters they can identify with. I think once the show gets over the transition of beginning a new season hump, things will begin to fall into place. Drama 101, create mysteries! But then you have to solve them. Lost has covered the creation of too many mysteries to count. What is up with the polar bears? What is the smoke monster? Will Ben ever tell a single truth? I doubt we will get all those answers all in a single episode, so expect the answers to trickle in slowly. Either way Lost is an awesome ride, so hang in there and enjoy the show.
