Most cleaning products today contain toxic chemicals that are hazardous to our health. Finding a natural way to clean the mold in the bathtub is especially challenging. Fortunately, there are several tried and true ways to clean mold. Here are a few suggestions for cleaning the mold in the bathtub naturally and safely.
The bathtub tiles
To remove pesky mold from your bathtub tiles try this natural mixture.
One teaspoon of water softener cup warm water
One tablespoon ammonia and one tablespoon vinegar
Wash down the bathtub tiles well and then rinse with cold water. Dry the tiles with a soft towel until shiny.
The bathtub grout
Use ammonia to clean the grout in between the bathtub tiles. Scrub the grout with an old toothbrush. Make sure to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands. Ventilate the bathroom well when using the ammonia. Rinse the grout when you're finished scrubbing. Never mix bleach with ammonia to clean. It is a deadly combination.
The bathtub faucets
A great way to clean the chrome faucets in the bathtub is to rinse the faucets completely with a salt and lemon juice mixture. Vinegar also works well if you don't have a lemon juice. The acidity cleans the chrome to a shiny finish. Rinse the faucets with cold water and dry completely.
The bathtub
Clean any tough mold in a bathtub with a mixture of borax and lemon juice. Make a thick paste of both of these items and scrub well with a damp cloth. Let it dry then rinse with cold water. If the mold is still there repeat the process. Afterwards, make sure to dry the tub to prevent any mold from growing.
White vinegar is probably the best cleaning solution for any dirty job. White vinegar fights tough mold or mildew stains with its powerful acidity. To clean the mold in your bathtub; simply spray the entire area with white vinegar then rinse with cold water. Repeat this process if necessary. Dry the tub completely.
To prevent mold and mildew growth in the bathtub, you should keep the bathroom low in humidity. After showers or baths make sure to open a window or run the bathroom fan to ventilate out the room. Another way to help eliminate humidity in the bathroom is to plug in a dehumidifier in or near the bathroom.
