Ten Ways to welcome Spring
Following are ten ways to welcome spring:
The first thing to do to welcome spring is throw open every window in the house. Let the fresh air of spring come in to replace the fowl air of winter when the windows have all been closed a good share of the time. Take a few deep breaths and thank God for the spring of the year. Look ahead to the wonderful things that can happen in springtime.
Second, take a few days to clean my house from top to bottom. It's always a good feeling to have everything clean again after a long winter of trapping the warm air inside to keep warm. It's a good time too to air or wash all bedding. It's also a perfect time to take down all the curtains and drapes and wash them or have them cleaned. While you wait for that chore to be done, wash your windows to a sparkling sheen. Welcome spring also by shampooing all carpets and vacuuming the overstuffed furniture.
Now that the house is clean, it's fun to get outdoors. To welcome spring, get outside and start preparing the flower beds, and get the garden spot rota-tilled and ready to plant soon. Some early vegetables can be panted and spring flower bulbs also. It's a good time to clean the yard too and maybe fertilize it for the first time this spring.
Back inside the house, clean out the closets, put away winter clothing and put out your spring things. While you're at it, why not fix a bag of things you haven't worn for a year to go to Goodwill or your favorite charity.
Clean cupboards and dresser drawers. Throw out anything you haven't used for a year and donate it to the Salvation Army.
This is a good time to put on your favorite music for some listening pleasure while you work around the house.
Freshen up your closet with something new, a few lighter things to wear in warmer weather, something cheery and bright.
Plan your menus for spring. Cook something lighter for the nicer weather; try some new salads and light dishes for the spring appetites.
When you go shopping, pick up some bird seed and fill up your birdhouses with food for the birds. Put a hummingbird feeder outside your kitchen window, fill it with their favorite nectar, and soon you will have them fluttering around your window filling up and helping you enjoy the spring weather.
Last of all, lighten up your attitude, and you'll find the people around you doing the same thing. Develop a positive attitude in everything you do. With e everything done, spring is a happy time.
The End
