Joel Osteen is truly a man of God, there is no doubt about that. When I answered my Father's call to come back to Him, I would regularly tune in to his show. At that time, I simply needed to be reminded that God loves me and that I was a child of God. He reinforces this at each broadcast, along with some short stories of encouragement. However, when it comes to the "meat & potatoes" of your purpose and destiny in God, I believe that Joel does not dig deep in the study of God's Word. You shouldn't have to feel good once a week, crawling to make it from one broadcast to another, but feel good all the time.
An in depth study of God's Word tells you how you can maintain your peace and joy in Him. There are certain standards that one must live, in order to maintain a happy & righteous life. If you are not fed the Word of God and taken to where His promises are, then you risk suffering from a lack of "hearty meals" of the Word in between. Yes, his broadcasts come on everyday, but some people can only watch it once or twice a week. And what about being with like minded Christians? The fellowship of people that are just as purpose & destiny driven in God as you are? Not everyone can make it to where his church is. What about your calling in God? Everyone is born with a gift from God. (1 Cor. 12) How would one be able to identify what gift he or she is to operate in if they don't know to study this and other scriptures to identify where God wants to use them in His Kingdom building?
We are living in an exciting time to be a Christian. God is releasing new revelations of His Word in present day truths. Many people are not satisfied to be bench warmers and just attending church on Sunday. This generation and the ones to follow want tangible proof that there is a God and you must be knowledgeable and accurate in the Bible to teach those that really want to know Jesus as Lord. So my prayer is that Joel is elevated to another level in the spirit realm to realize this, and to ask God to help him make the necessary advancements in order to Kingdom build. After all, this is the age to "Arise, shine; for thy light has come and the glory of the Lord is upon us." (Isa. 60:1) "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the spirit of the Lord" (2Cor 3:18) It is time out for being a feel good Christian, but to rise up and stand in the full measure of God!
