Poetry: About friendship

The Reunion

It's been so long, since we've been together.
We're such good friends, I won't waste the words.
You're looking well, are you still clever?
The time has past, our skin's wrinkled by the weather.

How's the wife, the kids, and all the things that tie you down?
Are you still working at that grindstone in town?
Or have you invested your life in the things that matter?

Let's grab a beer and forget about the success ladder.

So we hopped in my car and drove on out to the beach.
And forgot about the wife, the kids and got a good seat.
My friend got looking young, but a little off beat.
As we checked out the girls that were broadcasting on the street.

For a man out of practice, He sure could score.
Seems the less we tried, the more our hearts would soar.
And the girls were smiling as we got out to get the door.
As we left the beach, our minds were through, but our bodies wanted more.

Such a sad situation, as I dropped off at his door.
Seems his wife and kids wanted to squeeze for just a little more.
A tear on his face,as he said, tommorrow.
Same time, same place, at the beach, alright, alright.
And I drove off with a smile, because I knew after while.
I'd be with my friend.

It's been so long, since we've been together.
We're such good friends, I won't waste the words.
