We live in the era of technology and unlimited exposure where anyone with a cellphone or a camera can take a picture and within the hour have it plastered all over the Internet. One hundred years ago it was an honor to have your picture taken. Now, most pictures of our celebrities are on the verge of being visual slander. People such as Paris "No Panties" Hilton and Lindsay "Legs Open" Lohan are just two examples of the travesty that is affecting our culture. Instead of our teens looking up to people such as Bill Gates, Oprah, or even their parents, boys and especially our young girls are looking up to these human garbage baskets.
In fact, these people are glorified for their behavior, given TV shows and record deals, and cast in movies that teenagers watch and listen to every day. I understand if you want to party and have a good time, I really do, but to what limit are we going to allow our children to be exposed to this madness. It is not easy being a celebrity in the information age, with cameras around every corner, but if I can manage to not expose myself every time I get out of my car or not have a "wardrobe malfunction" whilst I walk down the aisle at the local supermarket, then these folks should be able to do the same.
There are a few easy ways to ease the stress of publicity. Move to a house in the country. It is quiet, secluded, and very relaxing. In the country, you have the freedom to walk to your mailbox and back without a hundred camera flashes going off.
Take your shopping needs off rodeo drive. I understand that is where the cloths you wear are available, but the Internet is a wonderful tool. Most companies who can afford to make a $1500 handbag or a $500 pair of sunglasses most likely have a website.
Here is a little, tiny, helpful tip that might get the press off your back. Stop making sex tapes. Its not that hard. When your are about to have sex, don't say "Hold on, let me get the condoms and the tripod!"
Drunk driving is not a reason you should be famous. Its not cool, its not the "in" thing to do. YOU could KILL someone.
The celebrities will grow angry with photographers because they are having these "bad" pictures taken, but if someone can make money taking your picture, then why not make some easy money? It is not the photographers fault you didn't wear any panties with a mini-skirt or if you happen to fall out of your top that consists of nothing more than a couple pieces of string. When the how-to-wash tag is the largest piece of fabric on the garment, don't wear it. Wear a t-shirt or just something you won't fall out of.
There are hundreds of celebrities who manage to keep their privacy. They do not tape themselves drunk using racial slurs or promote sex, drugs, or violence every chance they get. They don't have sex tapes floating around the Internet or naked pictures of them in magazines, they are able to live just like you and I, and for the most part set a great example for our kids. They promote character, honor, and integrity everyday and are excellent role models for our youth. It is not difficult to keep your private life private and your public life public, but if you mix the two, then you are in for a rough time and you should prepare yourself for ridicule.
