All hail Robert Jordan, may he rest in peace. It was an honor and privilege to read his Wheel of Time books from the very beginning and a tragedy that he will never more fill the minds of his readers with endless wonders and amazement.
Finally things have begun to progress after a long few books of preparation.
More members of the Black Ajah have been captured and put to the question, bringing their power down further than ever before.
Egwene has been wearing the sisters out nicely and has them almost where she wants them. Just one more move...
Matt has gained the respect of the Seanchan in battle, as well as his new wife and may have found a way to bring Moraine back from the brink of death.
Rand has captured one of the Forsaken at the risk of an arm and has the power to push the Seanchan back again.
Perrin, finally, has his wife back and Elayne is struggling ever harder with her throne. This and along with many many more sidelines has made The Wheel of Time books a remarkable saga for ages to come. It is a satisfying conclusion to the previous couple of books and makes the reader more content knowing that the Light is winning over the Shadow in greater ways.
Like many of The Wheel of Time books, this one represents the series in every way with it's complicated plots, realistic and ultra numerous characters, and wonderful surprises.
Much as people hated Bornhald and Byar, readers were definitely on thier side as they were on Galad's side in the fight against Valda. Again, Jordan shows his ability to bring the reader into the minds of all of his characters. He seems to do this without even trying as you almost literally step into the world he had created and walk among the people, understand their feelings and problems.
For the longest time people wanted to know more about the Aelfinn and Eelfinn and just glimpsing a new facet into their existence created a longing for even more.
This book was a breath of fresh air after the previous few "fillers" that Jordan had created with their stagnant storyline and frustrating lack of plot movement. Even the prequel that will not even be honored with a name did not give any new light upon the current themes in the newer books of this series. It was truly an honor to be their at the last and may this book give new light to what it means to be a truly dedicated writer.
If you have not read this book in the series, it is time to go and buy it now. Enjoy.
