Signs you're addicted to Facebook

Hello. I'm a Facebook Addict.

I was never much into Facebook. As a matter of fact I'd been avoiding it for a long time. When I got my Blackberry, Facebook was already installed and I thought of it more as a nuisance than anything else - just one more thing to get me to use the expensive broadband access on my phone. So hid it on my Blackberry aps and avoided it like the plague when I was on my computer.

Then, about three months ago, I was at a party and it seemed like all my friends were doing Facebook. It was all they talked about and, I was feeling a little left out. They all seemed to be having so much fun. I have to admit, I have experimented a little with other social networking sites like MySpace and LinkedIn, but I didn't really enjoy them and never really got that into them. I figured Facebook would be the same, but all my friends insisted that it was this wonderful thing so I signed up, after all, what could it hurt?

The day I set up my account I followed all the steps and let Facebook find friends from my Hotmail account. It was like going to a reunion where only the cool people, that you really liked, showed up. It was like coming home. I don't remember how much time I actually spent on Facebook that day, I only remember that it was daylight when I started, and I'd only intended to log on briefly to set up my account. By the time I dragged myself away, it was after midnight. And, while I was exhausted, I couldn't actually sleep, the siren's call of Facebook invaded my dreams.

For days after I'd log on to the computer, pull up Facebook and just leave it running all day while I tried to get work done. But I couldn't get any work done because I was checking my profile every five minutes. In a week's time I'd managed to expand my network into the 100s just by adding friends and friends of friends of friends. I was posting messages and comments on everyone's profiles all day long. I lost 5 pounds because eating cut into my valuable posting time. My caffeine consumption tripled and I had constant, relentless reflux from
