Guide to looking 10 years younger

Looking 10 years younger is an achievable goal for most women and can be done easily with very little cost. It does require making a few simple changes but the benefits will be enormous, both to your image and your self confidence.  Most women worry that in trying to look 10 years younger they may have to dress in clothes and makeup more suitable to younger counterparts, but this is not the case. Below is a guide to making the simple changes needed to create a more youthful appearance.

Skin Care

A good skincare routine is essential for keeping skin in optimum condition. Every morning and evening cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin. Use good quality (doesn't always mean the most expensive) products with specific anti aging benefits to nourish the skin.  Try to use natural products as much as possible. Simple face masks can be made with eggs, honey, oats and other ingredients from your kitchen.

Sunblock

Use a good sunblock every day of the year, even when it's cloudy. This will prevent sun damage, deep wrinkles and may even prevent skin cancer. Most good moisturisers contain sun factor protection and may work out cheaper.

Make Up

Keep make-up light, less is definitely more when aiming for a more youthful look. Try a light reflecting foundation, which reflects light away from fine lines and wrinkles and gives a soft focus look.  Keep eyeshadow natural by choosing neutral browns and peaches.  Blend the colours well and add a touch of soft pencil to line the eyes close to the lashes. Changing mascara from black to dark brown can give a softer, more natural appearance. Keep lips soft and natural, with just a hint of colour.

Hair Style

Aim to have hair cut and styled every 6 - 8 weeks. Look in magazines at the latest cuts and colours and discuss what styles would be most suitable taking into consideration face shape, wearability and lifestyle.

Keep Fit and Healthy

Exercise regularly for at least 30 minutes a day 3 - 5 times a week. This will keep the body toned, burn excess fat and give a lovely youthful glow to the skin. Choose an exercise routine that is enjoyable and has a feelgood factor to keep motivation high.

Eat Well

Eat plenty of fruit, vegetables and protein. Aim to eat lean meat, chicken, turkey and fish and a good selection of fruit and vegetables. Snack on celery, carrot sticks or grapes with the occasional avocado for its super anti-aging benefits.

Drinks

Drink plenty of water, at least eight glasses a day. Aim to drink a couple of glasses of fruit juices throughout the day. Cut down on alcohol or use for special occasions.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Sleep is still one of the best beauty treatments for youthful looks, renewing and rejuvenating every cell and system in the body.  Seven or eight hours sleep a night is recommended for good health, and to maintain youthful looks.

Style

Aim for quality instead of quantity when shopping for clothes. Buy timeless classics and well tailored pieces that are more flattering to the figure, creating a sophisticated yet modern image.

Additions

Every season choose one or two fashion pieces to mix with classics for a very up to date image. Adding a scarf, bag or other accessory in this season's latest colours is a quick and inexpensive way, to update and add a modern twist to an existing wardrobe.
