I'm a huge comic book fan. I own ridiculous amounts of comics (yes they are in plastic with cardboard backing, you heathens). I consequently have a hard time letting go of my love of comics when it comes to super hero movies. They are always changing things from the original form in the comics when they make them into a movie. For instance, in Spiderman the comic book, Peter Parker is a 16 year old genius who adds to his spider powers by creating his own web fluid, web cartridges, and web shooters, which I think is awesome! Mostly because I'm a nerd. Now in the movie, a big ole hole opens up on his wrist and organic webbing shoots out of that. The reason they gave for the change was: we just think it's completely unrealistic that a 16 year old kid would come up with a chemical compound that never existed before. Interesting. Apparently it's completely realistic to get bit by a radioactive spider and get super powers though that. What I'm saying is we suspended our disbelief, so why change something that doesn't need it. I just needed to get that rant out before I went on with my picks for top five superhero movies:
1. 300
Yes, it is a comic book adaptation of a Frank Miller comic based on the Spartans war. This movie is visually stunning with a simple and great story. Don't let bullies push you around and stand up for what you believe in. It's got elements for all types of people. Ripped mostly naked dudes for the ladies (I have had many ladies tell me this, I'm just reporting) and great fight scenes and some hot women as well. It sticks exactly to the comic book, which, as noted above, makes me happy.
2. Batman: Dark Knight
Though it's not exactly like the comic book, the portrayal of the two main characters is spot on. Batman is always walking the line between good and evil. He's constantly on the precipice of insanity and the Joker is always trying to push him over. Heath Ledger's Joker was scary as hell and even made me laugh a few times. Christian Bale plays the duality of Bruce Wayne to Batman superbly and adds an interesting dark edge to the character. A great plot, awesome special effects and a bunch of sick fight scenes makes this one of my favorite super hero movies.
3. Iron Man
This is another movie that stays as close to the comic book as possible. They even hired an actor who only had to delve into his near past to play a drunk millionaire eccentric. This movie has a great plot, good acting with effects that make it feel like there is a chance that Iron
