Where to blog on the Internet today translates basically to what topic should you use when you decide to create your own blog. While the possibilities are endless, the first thing you must remember is that no one wants to read a blog that is made up of nothing but advertisements, paid reviews and affiliate promotions. Your visitors want to read a blog that gives them value and enhances their lives. Your principal motivation when producing content is to focus on these two aspects for your readers. After reading your blog they should feel good and thus, is the first step towards captivating an audience, building traffic and finally making money. That in essence is somewhat a simplified way of thinking about what makes good content, but at it's core, that's all there is to it.
That said, how do we choose where to blog on the Internet. Blogs are sources for creativity and they can influence people. Blogs are communication platforms, educational resources and sources of entertainment. They connect people, spread ideas, foster friendships, sway political opinion and much more. Blogs
can be almost anything you want it to be, and so choosing the topic is what I consider to be, one of the most important aspects of blogging.
You will produce content based on the topic you choose, so choose wisely. If you have something that you consider yourself an expert on, that will be a great start (programming for example). If there is something that you are passionate about, say gadgets, can also be a good choice. You can narrow your choices even further by choosing a niche within an area you are passionate about and blog about it. Following the idea about gadgets, you can be for example, passionate about cellular phones and thus blog only about this particular sub-category.
There is also the possibility of multiple topics (so called mixed bag). By multiple, I mean topics that are relevant to each other. Blogging
about your passion for Pets and giving people recommendations about buying stocks on Wall Street are not necessarily topics that blend with each other, unless you recommend a company stock that sells great food for dogs:) If you must have another topic, set up another blog, but be careful not to set up too many.
Now, answer this. Why will you be blogging? Will it just be because you want to share your personal ramblings over the Internet with your friends, families, etc. If this is the case, then you should not worry too much about finding the right topic or niche for that matter. Now if you are thinking of blogging for money, that is a whole different ball game. Blogging for money is = blogging as a business. You must take your approach as a businessman and treat your blog as if it were a company (no matter the size).
