Ten ways to welcome spring

Spring is such a welcome season. The sounds, sights, smells of Springtime are all things that we look forward to with much anticipation. Even those of us cursed with allergies, don't seem to mind runny eyes, red noses and excessive tissues that accompany this great time of the year. It's worth it!

With the new season, comes an opportunity to tune into a spirit of freshness from the inside out. Take full advantage of the rites of the reason. Here are ten ways to put springtime into your home. Put some spring in your step, and make the most out of the glorious season by trying these timely tips.

1. Lighten your load. Start by streamlining your bedroom. Get rid of the heavy blankets, flannel sheets, and soften your bed dressing. Of course, it's only practical to lose some of your heavy bed covers for this time of the year. Store your fall and winter bedding for next year.

2. Change your decorative pillows. Floral designs, stripes, light colored patterns work wonders with very little effort. Switching heavy fabrics for light cottons, silks or canvas, make a major difference in the feeling of your home. There are pillow covers available, or if you're handy you can make them all for a reasonable cost.

3. Clean everything that you normally don't fuss with in the winter. Windows are the first place to start those spring chores. With clean windows, inside and out, the view will be brighter and is sure to lift your spirits. Then get a sponge mop, ladder and some cleaning liquid. Hit the baseboards, walls, light fixtures, and if you're feeling really ambitious, mop the walls. You'll find your home smelling fresh as spring.

4. Paint is the least expensive way to decorate. When the weather is mild, it makes spray painting outside easy. It's a great time to think about painting furniture, accessories, and walls. Don't think that you have to take on a huge painting project to make a statement. Accent walls and small items in new colors will brighten your home and lift your spirits.

5. Change out floor coverings, if you have heavy dark rugs, and replacing them with painted floor clothes or area rugs, will brighten any room. If you have the storage space for the rugs you're not using for the season and if you take advantage of some really great sales, odds and ends at carpet stores, or hand paint your own canvas, you can make a big difference with the flooring.

6. Bring the outside inside. Cut branches, ivy, fresh flowers, and place them around the home. A simple clear
