Nothing is more important than civil rights in mankind's history. Sadly enough, mankind has always found ways to impose limitation on civil rights by using national security as the necessary means to an honorable end. The truth is that, whenever a time came to choose between civil rights, liberty, freedom and "economics" , mankind (governments) have clearly chosen economics. Based on this, they have used national security as a "trump card" to override, refute and/or halt civil rights. Good examples are all around us. The governments of China, Iran, Venezuela use national security on daily basis to deny or stop civil rights to their citizens. The same priciple does fully apply to the United Sates, and its allies such as Israel, UK, Pakistan, Russia, and EU nation state members. The real question is that: whose security is being protected? It is the technicality that people fall for. For example, these days economic hardship is deemed as national security treat. Thus, any government's attempt in form of economic rescue, aid or control of any percentage of a private industry, can be assumed as "nationalizing" act, for the sake of national security. By doing it, all components of civil rights can be controlled, dictated or even eliminated. Now take that a step further by creating as alliance between a government and a monopolizing drug company, petroleum organization. Hmmm, that sounds very similar to what we have been during the last 60 years. The real irony is that it happens right in front of people of all ethnicity and culture, yet falling victim to perception and betrayal of their own governing institutions. United States , UK did the same in early 1950's Iran, both Iraqi regimes (current regime and Saddam's period); 1973 Chile etc. The same applies to current EU and its member countries before unification. Let's explain it in the simplest way possible. When the "rich: wants a war, it will go and hire a government. Who is the government? The government consist of all members of the congress, house of rep or the elected individuals who have become governors, senators with full financial backing of the "rich". let's do a fact check. less than one percent of the world polulation controls more that 99 percent of the world wealth and resources. And who has resisted, or made a phoney attempt to protect civil rights? The less than one percent group! They are the one's that have control of the governments and NGO's. If both US and the EU place a country such as Iran, in countries that exports terrorism, then why maintaining deplomatic and trade relations with such an evil state? If Iran is in a terror list (a direct threat to national security), then why the "free world" is still keeping its diplomatic and multi billion dollars trade relations with it? Therefore; let us not to fall to such fallacy. Nothing should overide or trump civil rights and civil liberty yet I do beg the differ, in reality it does.
