Saying that the Democrats are going crazy with America's money is problematic for me because it leaves out half the problem. The problem in American politics is not that the Democrats are going crazy with our money but that both parties have went insane with their spending leaving those of us who believe in smaller government with no place left to turn.

That said, because the Democrats currently control the House of Representatives, the senate and the White House it is their responsibility to control the spending and they are the ones who naturally get the blame when the government acts like a sixteen year old who have been given their parents credit card and let loose in the mall for a shopping spree.

Even those in government who have been acting reclessly have began to see just how deep of a hole they have dug themselves and are beginning to talk about the reduction of debt. One of the common solutions among those who do not want to be forced to control themselves is to raise taxes, using the scare tactics of a growing deficit to make people agree to something that otherwise they would never agree to.

The rest are quite willing to cut spending, but only the other guys spending. Democrats are happy to reduce the budget to parts of the government that they never wanted to have the money in the first place but are in general completely unwilling to consider the possibility of cutting their own pet projects, and that is ultimately the biggest problem. Nearly everyone wants to cut the budget but no one is willing to give up what they want, but those days have to come to and end.

Writing down the national debt is pointless, not only because everyone already knows that the number is absurd but because it changes by the second and it will continue to go up until we, as the America people stop allowing our votes to be bought by politicians using our own money and realise that these projects given to us by both parties far from being free are far more expensive than if we did it ourselves and begin to elect those who not only understand the concepts of fiscal discipline but have some reason to believe that they won't be voted out of office immediately because they aren't willing to spend taxpayer money to buy votes and that is difficult because as Alexis de Tocqueville said "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury." and I fear that as Americans we have discovered that.
