A Lonely Heart Speaks.
Only worries and sorrows, trying to survive. Doing everything possible to stay sain. Money is worth nothing. Everything is too expensive. Can't seem to afford the air that we breath.
People seem to have changed. No more hope, no future, no love for one another. Jealousy and wanting more. Drinking to forget the pain of now. Drinking to remember the good times we once had.
When we could have all we wanted. When we could eat everything we wanted. Live anywhere in comfort and luxury. No worries or sorrows, no pains or regrets. Just a peaceful life.
Living in loneliness. Trying to make sense of what life really is. Is life suppose to be like this? Are we not aloud to make our own choices. Must we be restricted from things we like?
Everyday feels like a bad nightmare. How do I pay my bills? Have we got enough to eat? Can we lend some money from someone? When you lend you need to pay it back. So, it's better not to eat for a couple of days.
No one notices. You don't want to let them notice your pain or hunger. Just keep smiling and when they ask how your doing, you always respond positive. Feeling ashamed that you have nothing more to give.
Every time someone calls you on the phone, you are afraid to pick it up. Maybe someone from the bank. They want money! We don't have it. Maybe a friend, they want to go out and have fun, but you cannot.
Losing every friend you had, because you cannot get along with the poverty you are experiencing. Days of irritation, being angry, frustration eating away at you. Your health is bad. Pains everywhere. Can no longer function right.
Worring, emotions, depression, sicknesses, pains, frustrations, irritations, no hope anymore. Why are we still alive? What use is it? No one seems to care anymore. What has happened to all the promises?
The Euro was going to make all things better. Eventually the first couple of years would be a little less. It is more than a couple of years now. Everything has gotten so expensive! But our income stays the same.
They promised us wealth. Europe would be the place to live a good life. What a laugh! Poverty is growing and the people with money get more. The people in the middle get poor, and the poor have nothing left. Do the rich care?
I used to have savings account. The Euro came and now I only have bills to pay. I used to be able to go out and have some fun. Now to have fun, is to pay my bills and stay home. I am actually happy when I can pay my bills!
In the morning when I wake up, I wonder how life would have been if the Euro did not come. I fantasize about the things I could have done. The feeling of being without financial stress, is great. But unreal.
You go to sleep hopeing to wake up from a dream. Maybe life will be like it was. When you ask others if they would vote for the Euro knowing what they know now, they all answer with NO! But, dreaming won't help.
Once again, the next day we wake up in our very own jail house room. No food in the refrigerator. No money in our pockets. No friends around us anymore. Alone once again, in a jail with rules.
How much more taxes must we pay? Restrictions, here and there. A lonely heart speaks:"Life has turned into a jail. Slowly but surely. No way to escape. No where to go. Europe is one and our freedom is gone. We all pay the price, taxes and loneliness."
