Just Think About...
If Rosa Parks didn't take that seat,
or Martin Luther King didn't dare to dream.
If James Brown didn't "Say it loud,.."
To make us realize we are black and proud.
Just think about Central High School that day in Little Rock, or
the first black family to move on the block.
The signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, and
becoming a great interim of this nation.
Sacrificing lives for freedom and justice
in order for us to have the right to vote.
Think about Medger Evers, Malcolm X, and
other black men and women brutally murder.
They gave their lives to open doors for us...
Just think about every time
you walk in the front door,
sit in the front seats of the buses,
and the movie theaters.
Your freedom to vote,
shop where you want to shop,
and to have the opportunities to be educated.
Just think about having the first
black President of the United States of
America, The land of opportunity.
Just think about George Washington Carver, and the peanut,
Garrett Morgan, and the traffic light.
Dr. Charles Drew exploring plasma.
The contributions of great Black Men and Women,
whom inventions and creations enhanced opportunities.
Just think back when we were Africans,
brought from our homeland to become Negroes on
unfamiliar grounds.
We were sold as coloured servants, and then
we were freed only to become Black and that wasn't enough,
so now we are called African American.
" Les not forget" the struggles that our fore fathers and mothers fought,
in order for us as a people to move forward.
Pause for moment and think about it... think about it... Just think about it.
Congratulation, President Barack Obama !
My heart goes out to you.
