Poetry: Child abuse

by M.Vega

The blows to my body were never there

But you never smiled, you never cared

I sat alone in my room, in the dark,

Waiting to be tucked in

The only one that was there, was my only friend

My teddy bear

The whipping of the belt never came

But when I saw you, you were the same

There was no laughs, no jokes, no play

The hugs and kisses were never there

The I love yous, were so ever rare

I may not have physical marks to show you never cared

But the scars inside is more than one should have to bare
