Yes I believe we have the right to complain when the services we require do not meet our expectations. We work hard and have every right to expect nothing but the best when we pay for it. Rather I am at the caf getting a cup of coffee, or out purchasing a new home I expect good service because I am the one paying for the service.
I honestly feel that it is expected of us to speak up and say something when we get poor or bad service. This helps the consumer and the company. The company has to be aware that an employee is not doing their job they were paid to do, and most company's will go beyond their legal responsibility to keep their customer happy. They know that a good portion of their business is based on word of mouth and a satisfied customer can generate more customers. Companies like feedback so therefore if you are genuine and honestly unhappy you really should complain.
Most places have a certain standard that they like to live up to. When you decide to do business somewhere I feel they must do as they claim and all the work or merchandise should meet an acceptable standard of quality or you did not get what you paid for. Outside of complaining you should always make sure to return faulty goods as soon as possible and make sure the matter is resolved to your satisfaction because that is your right as a consumer. Also try not to be abusive or aggressive because this can cause someone to be on the defensive and that is no way to get anything solved. Always try to have a good attitude because a good attitude will take you a long way as a consumer. Smile and go with the flow, but stand up and be clear and assertive with how you want to resolve the issue. We have every right to expect what we pay for and if we do not receive it, then we have ever right to complain and get our money returned to us.
So if your at the doctors office and the girl behind the glass is rude which most normally are, then tell her that she had no call to be rude. If your waitress treats you like your beneath her, then remind her who is paying who. I feel so much better about myself once I started standing up and not taking the bad service I was being handed. There is no reason why I should have to spend my heard earned money and then be treated like crap in the process. I work hard and do my own job to the best of my ability, I offer good service in my line of work, just like most of us out there do, so when I am in need of a service I want what I pay for. Plane and simple, that is my right.
