The East Wind Inn is pleasantly located in Tenant's Harbor, Maine and could easily be a destination in itself. Each and every room or suite features an ocean view and a sense of peace not often found right on the ocean.
Tenant's Harbor is a small and quiet harbor with a public boat launch and a very easy place to launch a canoe or kayak or to beach-comb at low tide. There's not much going on in the little village of Tenant's Harbor, which is one of the reasons it is so peaceful and quite.
The East Wind Inn perfectly suits the laid back feeling of Tenant's Harbor. The airy rooms are furnished with lovely antique furnishings and comfortable beds, and soft salt-scented breezes flutter the lacy curtains in both buildings. The Main building shares space with the award-winning restaurant and offers some of the Inn's 22 rooms. The Inn has a lovely wrap-around porch that just beckons an afternoon beverage as you watch the activity of lobster and fishing boats in the harbor from one of the white rocking chairs. Flower beds in full bloom surround the Inn.
The second building of the Inn, called the Meeting House is a mere few steps away from the main inn and offers the same irresistible porch with white rockers. The rooms in the Meeting House are slightly larger than those in the main inn and offers a very large gathering room with games, magazines and television. The antique furnishings here are lovely;even the lighting fixtures in the hallways are antique. This building is situated perfectly to capture the afternoon sun and the soft summer breezes. I could smell the scent of fresh lavender that was growing in a small herb bed near the front porch. Flower beds abound around the Meeting House as well, and buckets of lush petunias hang from the eaves of the porch. It's likely that while sitting there you might only hear the lanyards on the nearby flagpole making their "ting ting" in the light breeze, and the low rumble of a lobster boat gathering traps.
For a simple lunch or snack, the Chandelry offers take-out food right on the wharf; here's your chance to get one of the best lobster or crab rolls on the coast. There are picnic tables available or you could take your food back to your own private rocking chair.
The East Wind Inn is just off Route 131 in lovely Tenant's Harbor, and is definitely worth the trip. Bring your kayak or canoe, your camera and a good book. You'll find yourself very relaxed shortly after checking in.
