WHAT ABOUT ME

written
05-15-97
You say you are superior
You say you are the best
You say you are the only ones
But, what about me?

You say God loves only you
You say there is no one else
You say only YOU should rule
But, what about me?

Didn't I meet your boats?
Didn't I help you to survive?
Didn't I show you how to grow your crops?
Yes, what about me?

You came and our lands went
You came and our cultures went
You came and our people went
Yes, what about me?

You say hate other races
You say don't associate with them
You say kill those that are not pure
But, what about me?

Your ancestors came willingly or not
Your ancestors stole what they couldn't have
Our dignity, our pride, our homes
Now, what about me?

Should we hold you accountable for
All the crimes committed against us
Rape, murder, theft, and unlawful imprisonment?
Now, WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Aren't I the true American
Wasn't I here before any of you
Is this how you repay my generosity
Now, WHAT ABOUT YOU?
