I am no expert; my deep feeling is that God created man and woman in his image, because he is Love, and Love cannot contain itself but must be expanded and expressed. In us, he created Love. In us, he created opportunity for growth and expansion.

What about those of us who believe in evolution? In The Weight of Glory, C.S. Lewis states "Evolution itself,' [Professor D.M.S. Watson] wrote, is accepted by zoologists not because it has been observed to occur or . . . Can be proved by logically coherent evidence to be true, but because the only alternative, special creation, is clearly incredible.' Has it come to that? Does the whole vast structure of modern naturalism depend not on positive evidence but simply on a priori metaphysical prejudice? Was it devised not to get in facts but to keep God out?" Perhaps, as Lewis suggests elsewhere, it all does go back to the chicken or egg first question. Without a physical, omnipotent God, where would the original seed of human life come from? I cannot accept that the intelligence that we have, limited as it is, originated from some steeping pool of primordial soup, or from some "big bang" that brought "everything" into existence from nothing.

My belief, my faith, is that God, called by many names - and I would add one; The Great Extraterrestrial - created humanity.
