Although liberal people/politicians believe that the stimulus package will get us out of our recession, the way to fix a problem brought on by sub-prime mortgages isn't to take out a sub-prime loan with countries like China or India. If we drain our reserve of all of its funds, and the developing countries were borrowing money from decides to cash our checks; there will be hell to pay if our checks bounce.
In theory, the stimulus package seems like a decent idea. An attempt to jump start the economy by giving American citizens free money that they can use as they wish, this however isn't a good idea if we are already short on money. A nine trillion dollar debt should tell a government to start conserving its funds; it shouldn't persuade them to continue giving free handouts to its citizens.
Another reason the stimulus will fail is because there is over 9000 instances of pork-barrel spending included in this bill. Now there are many funds allotted for the reinvesting in banks, reconstructing the infrastructure (roads and bridges), and the revival of the economy by giving people more spending money. These are fine but there is around one-hundred and nineteen billion dollars in this package that are completely unaccounted for. Obama had stated that he would use his fine-toothed comb and go through every congressional bill to make sure there is no "pork barreling," but to miss over 9000 instances of pork barrel is ridiculous.
Many law-makers are right in taking a more representational approach in voting for the bill, because they don't want their constituents' taxes to be raised significantly. The entire point of the American people investing their tax dollars into the government is so that they can enjoy a better life in their own districts, not to help support the liberal ideologies that Obama is already imposing. (Fines for power plants, abortions at Catholic hospitals, and sex-ed for elementary schools, are just some examples of his warped ideals.) Americans are a very conservative people, founded on Conservative ideals, and enjoy the various Conservative creeds; they were manipulated by the liberal media to vote for Obama because he isn't "just like George Bush." People will realize how big a mistake they have made, and ultimately vote Obama out of the White House because of the way the economy will continue to struggle. The rushing of such a package doesn't seem very intelligent either; they should've thought about this dramatic plan before passing.
