Overcoming rejection in the work market

Today's work market is filled with rejection, and especially for the people trying to get their first job, or people who are recently laid off, trying to get their foot into the door of a new company. Expect a certain amount of rejection, and try not to take it personally, see the positive side of every experience, even when you fail. Keep getting better in the process.

l). Make sure that your resume is tailor made for the job your want. If the job is in sales, make sure that you highlight this fact directly in your current experience. How many times did you make your sales quota in the last year? What classes, seminars have you taken in 2lst century selling in your field. Be willing to revise your resume each time you apply for a new job.

2). Pay close attention to your skills and make sure you mention them fully in the job interview. What are your standout skills? Too often, after the interview is over, your realize that you didn't discuss your skills enough, and tie them into the job at hand. Try telling a short story of using your skills, and how these skills, such as writing, selling, communications, and working with people are important in the job at hand.

3). Extent the time-line to get a job, it takes sometimes 6-9 months to find one. Consider taking a temporary job, while continuing to take interviews and continue your job finding campaign. Also consider doing some consulting work, or starting a home-based business in your specialty until you get a full time job. Contact your college or high school placement office.

4). Remember that the most important thing you sell in dealing with the work market is selling yourself. Let others know what makes you special, and what talents, skills and abilities you have to help your hiring company succeed during this difficult economy. Wipe any bitterness you might have from being laid off, struggling to find your first job, or trying to switch careers in a difficult market. Smile, and keep telling yourself you have much to offer, and you can an important additional to any company or organization. Nothing is easy today, it will require that your sell your self confidence to succeed fully. Summary. Expect to find a lot of hard work getting that job today, especially in today's competitive working world, your must do the best resume, but attend job fairs, bring many resumes, and get out and network, let others know of your skills and abilities, and consider temporary jobs, even start a home-based business during the job getting campaign, give yourself enough time, and remember that your are selling yourself, sell your self confidence daily.
