2007-08 Fantasy football draft rankings: Quarterbacks

Though it's a bit early to speculate on the fantasy value of QBs heading into next season, it is clear that several seasoned veterans will be back atop the list, along with some newer faces.

Here's breakdown of who I think should be the top 10:

1. His name is Manning, and no, it's not Eli. Yes, once again, Peyton will likely put up great regular season numbers...he's only 31, after all. With the dynamic trio of Harrison, Waynem, and Clark, and likely further development in the running game with Addai, there's no reason to doubt big numbers again next year...barring Manning doesn't tear his Achilles in Game 1.

2. Carson Palmer. Sure, the Bengals are a bunch of cons running around a football field, but they are still one of the most talented bunch of receivers in the NFL. And I think Palmer is still a rising star...if everything comes together right, he could put together a 30 TD performance next year.

3. Drew Brees. The man had one heck of a comeback this year, and with several young receiving stars on the roster, there's no reason to believe he won't put monster numbers up again next year. The only thing that might slow him down is the letdown after a fairy tale season for the Saints this year...and defensive coordinators beginning to figure out coach Sean Payton.

4. Donovan McNabb. McNabb was off to an MVP start before he went down, on pace to throw over 30 TDs. IF he can stay healthy for a whole season, I don't see how any fantasy owner could ignore the stats he puts up.

5. Tom Brady. He never puts up HUGE numbers, but they're always solid, always. There is a lack of big play receivers in New England, but with a solid offensive line and some chemistry established with new wideouts this season, look for Brady to have another very good year.

6. Matt Hasselbeck. Many people will forget about Hasselbeck because of the down year he had this year, but even with missing over a third of the season with an injury, he was still in the top in the NFC in TDs. If he can cut down on his interceptions next year and some of the receivers step up, look for a big comeback.

7. Marc Bulger. He still has weapons at his disposal, especially all-world WR Tory Holt. RB Steven Jackson has become an excellent receiving threat out of the backfield, and will continue to pad Bulger's numbers next year.

8. Matt Leinart. I'm going out on a limb here putting a 2nd year QB this high, but Leinart showed plenty of promise this past season, though the Cards' record failed to show it. All he needs is for his offensive line to give him time, and this guy will pick apart NFL defenses with precision passing to his two big WRers, Boldin and Fitzgerald.

9. Vince Young. Former Longhorn showed enormous potential with the Titans, and actually managed to turn the franchise record around after taking over at starter. Everywhere he's gone, Young has been a monumental success...the NFL will be no different. He'll still make mistakes, but more than make up for them with inspired play. Titans will make the playoffs next year.

10. Rex Grossman. What, Mr. Inconsistency himself is a top 10 pick? You bet. You have to remember, this was Grossman's first real year of starting, and it showed. Amazing one Sunday and terrible the next, I fully expect Grossman to figure some things out and improve his decision-making next year. The Bear's defense will give him plenty of opportunities to put up big numbers as well.
