The evolution of cell phones has come a long way since the first came on the scene. They were once called "car phones" and were extremely expensive to own. The ability to take a phone with you everywhere became more and more possible. Is there a person in the United States that doesn't use a cell phone? Surely, there is, but I am at a loss to find one.
Listing the many reasons that cell phones have become essential to our Modern day living is easy. What will not be easy is trying to stop at ten of those reasons. Let's give it a try:
1. Safety- When you are out and about, you feel more secure with your cell phone attached. Most people will not leave their homes without it. When the chance occasion has you realizing that you forgot it, you begin to panic. Whether you get a flat tire or you lost your keys, cell phones make it quick and easy to contact someone to help you.
This isn't the only safety issue. A woman was kidnapped and put in the trunk of a car. She called the police from the trunk of the car and they were able to track her down because of her cell phone. This alone would have millions of women double-checking their purses to make sure their phone was there.

3. Business- Business' use these little gadgets to keep in contact with customers and with employee's. They have been an important part of keeping up with the tide of new customers and with the activities of the employees.
4. Parent/Child Contact- Many families opt to have a family plan so that their children can have phones on them at all times. This means the child has no reason to contact the parent if they are going to be late. It also means that if the child has an emergency, they can get a hold of you quickly.
5. No more pay phones- Many years ago, if you were out and about, you had to search high and low for a pay phone that wasn't in use. Then you had to hope you had the coins to put in the machine. This is a very restricting way to have to make a simple phone call. This is no longer the case. You simply have to reach for your faithful companion and dial the number.
6. No doubt- You don't have to wonder who the call is for and you don't have to worry about tying up the phone line. If your
