Reflections on the meaning of 'trust in God'

To trust in God, is to have complete faith in Him and in His word.

I spent 2 and a half years walking across the United States to show what you can do on faith in God. I made it a point never to ask anyone for anything. I never asked for food, money, clothes, nothing. I felt if I was sharing with people who God was, and what he has done in my life, God would take care of me without me ever asking for anything. In all the time that I walked across this country, I never went hungry once, I was never in need, and God supplied everything I needed. I saw God work in some awesome and marvelous ways.

One day a man asked me if I was afraid. I asked him what should I be afraid of? He asked me "What if someone steals all your stuff." I replied "Everything I have, God has given to me. If He wants to take them back, they are His." He asked me again, "What if someone kills you?" I replied that the bible states in Phillipians 1:21 "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is to gain." I said that if I was doing this walk for God, then He was going to take care of me, but if something should happen to me while I was on the walk, then I have not lost anything. This is to trust in God.

The world teaches us that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, God teaches us that the two in the bush are worth more than the one in the hand. to trust in God, is to acknowledge that he is all knowing, and and all powerful. He is holy, and that he loves us a parent loves a child.

Hebrews 11:1 States "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen."

Hebrews 11:6 states "But with out faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him."

Mark 9:23 Jesus states "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."

In Matthew chapter 8 there is the story of the centurion who had come toPhillipians Jesus and asked him to heal his servant. Jesus said He would come, but the man told him no all you have to do is say the words, I know that he will be healed. He said I too am a man under authority, and if I tell a man to come he comes, if I tell a man to go, he goes. All you have to do is give the word. Jesus said He had not seen such great faith as this man had.

Faith, is the woman who touched the edge of his robe, knowing that if she just touched it she would be healed. Matthew 9:20

To trust in God, is to understand that we do not have all the answers in life, that there is a greater purpose than for us to just exist on this giant rock called earth. To have faith in God, is to understand that if we seek Him he will supply all of our needs..

To have faith in God is to understand that it is His very breath which keeps us alive. Job was a rich man, he had it all. He then lost it all. He lost his family, his riches, his health, everything. Job in all his hardships refused to deny God. He kept his faith in God, and God rewarded him for that kept faith. When you have faith in God, it does not mean that bad things will not happen to you. It is just that when those bad things do happen there is one who will help you through them.

To put your trust in God is to realize that everything you have in life, God has given you. Be it your possessions, your money, your family, your health, everything. In the times that we live in, it is good to have that trust in God. With out God, where else will you put your trust? If you put your trust in man, money, social status, or your career, they will all fail you.

God will not fail you.
