While the prophet Jonah was in the belly of a cetacean, he vowed to offer a song of praise with his voice, and followed that oath with the statement, "Salvation is of the LORD."(Jonah 2:9) Then the Lord ordered the whale to spew the bleached prophet out onto the shore. King David, in his own time of distress, used the same words at the end of a song: yeshuw`ah Yehovah - salvation is of the LORD.(Psalm 3:8) The plan of salvation is exclusively from the "true God", the "living God", the "everlasting King".(Jeremiah 10:10) In the depths of their souls, both king and prophet knew that the LORD - their strength and their song - would become their salvation.(Isaiah 12:2)
The guilt of sin can not be forgiven without the shedding of blood.(Hebrews 9:22) Jesus Christ became the author of salvation through suffering punishment, and being nailed to a cursed cross of execution.(Hebrews 5:9) The tip of a spear caused "blood and water" to flow out onto the ground.(John 19:34) Through the shed blood of Christ, the saved have made "peace" with God.(Colossians 1:20)

Understand that God did not send his Son to sentence the world to punishment, but to "save the world through him."(John 3:16) God did not intend that anyone should "suffer wrath" but that men should be saved through the work of Jesus on the cross.(1 Thessalonians 5:9) Men are to hear the gospel of salvation, truly believe in it, and become "marked" with the "seal", which is the "Holy Spirit".(Ephesians 1:13) The work of salvation occurs when a man is saved from his natural sinful state of ruin, and translated into the kingdom of God, being made an heir of the gracious gift of eternal life.(1 Peter 3:7) Men are not to neglect this "great salvation" that was first declared by Jesus,(Hebrews 2:3) who is the "horn of salvation" that was raised up in the house of David, His servant. The deliverance of the Lord is a mighty salvation that empowers believers to "overcome all the power of the enemy".(Luke 10:19)
Christ will appear again to perfect the holiness of those who have inherited salvation.(Hebrews 9:28) In heaven, a "great multitude" wearing white will stand in front of the throne of Christ and speak out with loud voices, "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."(Revelation 7:9,10) Jesus is the only way to God.
