How to get on the first page of google

If you have a website or blog you should be aiming to have your site on the first page of google for as many keywords as possible. The reason for this is that when people perform a search on google they normally only look on the first two or so pages of the search results and in most cases they click on the first result. Therefore if your site is sitting on page 4, 5 or even worse 10 you are highly unlikely to get many visitors. Visitors are needed to make affiliate commissions and earn adsense revenue. The more visitors you can get to your site the better and the good news is that with a little research and writing using the right tools you can be on your way to having a popular successful website for free. I will describe the methods I use for my sites.

1) Pick a related domain name- If you site is about asthma cures, try and include this keyword in the domain name. Similarly if you are purchasing a domain name consider buying a dot com. Any one searching for asthma cures may actually type this phrase straight into the URL and land on your site. Apart from this your site will rank higher in search engines for this keyword as it is included in its URL. Sites that have less specific domain names, ie health dot com will not rank as high in search engines for the keyword asthma cures. Obviously if your site is not a niche site on you will perhaps have to use a more generic URL address.

2) Content

There is no point in attracting visitors to your website if there is no compelling content to hold their attention. They will leave your site uninterested in buying any of your affiliate products nor clicking on your ads, making you a big fat zero in cash. Good content begins with the title; you should have something catchy. Often when people search for something they are more likely to click on Lose 20lbs in two days' than how to lose weight', so make your post titles stand out. Secondly make sure your posts are a decent length and contain relevant content. If you can only write 50 words on something then perhaps it is better to not post it at all. Adding images or videos and giving them title containing keywords is also a good idea and helps to add to your search engine ranking. If someone searches for weight loss pictures', and you have before and after images labelled as weight loss pictures then there is a chance your website will end up on the google search listings for this phrase.
