mentally. This is where motivation comes in. All things great stem from motivation, you just have to find yours. What worked for me was mentally picturing myself the way I wanted to look and knowing that I could get there if I took the right steps. I think the biggest challenge people face with motivation is maintaining it after the initial high is gone. It can be frustrating when you don't see results right away, which in turn sometimes lead to self-defeating thoughts, but stick with it. Keep in mind that because you see yourself everyday, you may not notice changes as they happen, but others will. Once my friends, family and even perfect strangers starting mentioning how great I was looking, I started to actually see the physical changes myself and at that point I realized my efforts were paying off. So if you're frustrated because you're not seeing change right away, don't get discouraged; these things take time and you have to stay with it. I can assure you that once the compliments start rolling in you'll feel great and most likely have found your motivation to keep going. However, if you're not seeing results after a long period of time, then it might be wise to step back and re-evaluate your regime: Are you really doing everything you can to make a change? And answer honestly. When it comes to attitude, simply keep the following aspects in mind: Be realistic! You're not going to look like your favourite celebrity or sports idol overnight. In fact, you might never look like him/her, but that doesn't mean you can't look like an attractive and healthy individual. There are no quick fixes when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, so if something sounds too good to be true, then it likely is. Be smart, set realistic goals you don't want to set yourself up for failure. And of course, once you reach your initial goals, perhaps you'll feel confident enough to keep on going and set even bigger ones, reaching even higher results. Next up: Self control. Remember, excuses don't fly. When you don't reach your (realistic) goals, the harsh reality is that there is really no one to blame but yourself. We all hit roadblocks; the key is how you overcome them. And finally: Commitment. This ties in with self control. Once you have started on the path to a healthier lifestyle, realize that this is the kind of commitment you should make for life, and it's a great one at that. You will never regret making positive changes in your life that leave you healthier, happier and smarter J
So you see? Living a healthy and fit lifestyle isn't as hard as you think. Making small, simple changes in your life is all it takes, and really, why wouldn't you? Like anything good in life, keep it simple, but more importantly don't wait. Start now. Good luck and have fun!
