Cyborgs: The dream body

Cyborgs are the epitome of evil in science fiction, but when the time comes where we can incorporate robots into our body, I don't think we will have the same view of them.

Right now we can interact to a limited extent with computers, a person got a mechanical arm transplant and can more it with her nerves, just like a real arm. The first few people to be integrated like that will be in cases similar, to overcome a physical defect, but would people really take parts off on purpose just to have super strength?

I could see a wrestler ding this, or someone else in the entertainment industry, but I can't see the average person ever wanting to become part robot. In an ordinary robot, we would control the program to make sure that they wouldn't try and take over the world, but how would you stop a cyborg from going nuts?

I don't think people would submit to the surgery if there was on off switch that could make them helpless, or a giant plug in their back which could simply just be unplugged (like I've seen in too many movies).

This is a valid topic, and we will have to address these issues if before teh 'Borg are among us!
