Start by asking yourself: Why should Christians celebrate St Valentine's Day?
Celebrations of devout God-fearing but God-loving Christian's are select and specific. That is, they are limited in number and specific in purpose. St. Valentine's Day is not included among them.
If this is too simplistic, consider:
1. Christian celebrations should be limited to those of early Jewish Feasts, e.g. Festivals of Passover, Trumpets, the Tabernacle etc. and their [New Testament] continuations in the Sacraments. The Judeo-Christian ethic is the discerning factor; the words of the bible guide us accordingly.
2. Do not celebrate in honour of anything or anybody but the Lord himself. Pay him and only him obeisance. Even the Saint's are to be esteemed but not revered or praised. There is only one true God.
3. Find the passage in either Old or New Testament describing the celebration of St. Valentine's Day. There is no such passage. St Valentine's Day is at best a fused Christian-Pagan Festival, at worst a purely Pagan Festival. To celebrate a Pagan Festival is but blasphemous.
4. Blasphemy is a sin and the wages of sin death - it can not be any simpler than that for any Christian
5. It is not that God hates Pagans or the celebration of Pagan festivals, more rather that those who celebrate incorrectly according to the Word, are distancing themselves from God. Are your practices distancing you from God?
6. Do not confuse Religiosity, Spirituality, and Christianity - the latter is to be practiced through the teachings of Jesus based on the foundation of the Old Testament.
7. Consider the celebration of St Valentine's Day - is it following men, or following God?
As a Christian I can not think of any good reason to celebrate St. Valentine's Day. Can you think of any?
Christian's have a lot to answer for - we mix mighty God with man-made religion. This is an abomination; and plainly wrong. Weed out what is human propaganda from the enlivening words of our Lord. Follow the words with purpose. These words are after all divinely purposefuly-designed. Other celebrations too are purpose-designed, but they are designed by fallible, corrupt man.
Jesus and God, God and Jesus - the only two names Christian's need to know. Love, hope, and faith - the only three words we need to understand.
Seek the incorruptible. Walk the good walk and live the good life.
In God and only in God's Word, we trust.
