Asking a man's opinion of what God is not is rather presumptuous, wouldn't you agree. By stating that God is not something clearly states that God's existence is undeniable. If that be the case, then who are we, His creations, to set aside certain attributes of the one that created all things that can be both seen and unseen? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

Since my knowledge of the Almighty has leapt forward into an intimate relationship, I will be able to answer this question. However, before I share with you what God is not, allow me to submit to you what God is: He is Love.
Throughout the religious world, there have been many, rather interesting perspectives on God's character, as well as His motives. Imagine living a life believing the God was angry with you. If you lived your entire life believing something to be true, then all you would be able to determine and pull from your experience is what you have allowed yourself to see. This is the case with the many religions within Christianity, not to mention the rest of the world.
We see the perspective that God is a tyrant, ready and willing to punish all those who sin. This perspective is usually held by one of two kinds of people: the incredibly prideful, and the insanely insecure. The reason they see God as being a tyrant is because they have no concept of someone loving them without demanding something better. The opposite of this would be to see God as an ever loving God, accepting you as you are. Likewise, this perspective is held by one of two people: the incredibly humble, and the insanely secure.
Another perspective on the Creator is that He is absent. One of the major reasons behind this statement is actually directed from the absence of His voice. "God has never spoken to me," or, "God is not real because I have never seen Him." In almost every occasion, those who speak these statements are the same people that are trying to figure out God, looking for proof of His existence with a preconceived notion that they will not find anything. On the flip side, those who claim to have had experiences with the divine have always stated that all they did to receive it was to "ask Him to speak to me, and I waited for it." Those who seek with no intention of finding will not find, however those who seek with every intention of finding will catch the most brilliant experience possible for a human being.
God is the giver of Free Will, of relationships and provision: God is Love. God is not a tyrant, absent or judgmental: God is not selfish. Take everything that Love is not, and you have your answer.
