Rating is one of the most important activities you can do on Helium. Understanding the criteria for rating on Helium will help you not only improve your own rating score, but it will help to make Helium a better place through your ratings and your critiques. However, you need to understand what the criteria for rating articles on Helium are.
Rating is at the very heart of Helium. Rating allows Helium writers and visitors to critique the content that is published on Helium. As a writer, the rating process lets you get some feedback on your writing. This, in turn, helps you become a better writer and, in the long run, allows you to make more money with your articles on Helium.
Here are some of the most important criteria for rating articles on Helium.
Grammar and Punctuation. Some of the most obvious guidelines that you can use in rating articles on Helium are grammar and punctuation. A single typo or a single grammatical error here or there aren't enough, necessarily, to rate an article down on Helium. However, if an article is peppered with several different grammatical and spelling errors the article should be rated down.
Visual Structure. This helps to increase the readability and quality of articles on Helium. The structure of the articles on Helium has to do with two separate factors. First there is the structure of the visual presentation of the article. If an article has long paragraphs with six or seven or more sentences it is much more difficult to read online than a paragraph that sticks to three or four or five sentences. In addition, articles that use headers tend to be more readable than articles that don't use headers. Numbered lists are also much easier to read than articles without such lists.
Argument Structure. The second area of structure worth considering when it comes to criteria for rating articles on Helium is the internal structure of the article. How does the writer make his argument? How well does the article flow from one point to the next? If the thoughts in the article seem disassociated and discombobulated than the article isn't as valuable as another article that tends to flow much better.
Information value. How informative an article is should also contribute to an article's rating criteria on Helium. Helium wants to be a source of information for the internet. If an article is not informative and it doesn't really give any substantial information, than it's not very useful.
Topical relevance. Finally, you also need to consider relevance to the topic as a criterion for rating articles at Helium. If the article doesn't really relate to the topic it isn't much use to the reader. You want to make sure than articles match up as closely as possible with the topic of the article.
While these aren't the only criteria for rating at Helium, these are some of the most common criteria used by Helium users and the ones that will help you determine which of the articles you are rating is indeed the most valuable.
