Try these quick, inexpensive, and easy ways to remove pet hair from all of your furniture. You'll have cleaner furniture and those allergic to pet hair in your home will thank you.
No matter how hard you try to keep your pets and their hair off your furniture, it still winds up all over. If you sit down, it ends up on your clothes as well. Removing pet hair from your furniture is easy to do with some of these easy methods.
Brush regularly
Gently brush your cat or dog on a regular basis with a pet brush. You'll not only remove excess hair that is damaged or dead, but you'll promote a healthy coat for your pet. And most pets will love the feeling of being brushed, so you both win. Removing excess shedding hair before it ends up on your furniture is a great way to prevent this problem. You'll also want to consider keeping your pet off the furniture through various training techniques.
Lint rollers
The classic standby for those last minute clean ups of your favorite jacket or black shirt. Use them on your furniture to remove pet hair from tablecloths, couches, chairs, basically any fabric covered furniture.
Damp towel
Use a damp towel or rag to pick up hair that is stuck to your furniture. Lightly brush the damp cloth across the fabric in one direction to pick up and pull pet hair up and away from the fabric. Be sure that water won't leave a mark on certain fabric types before using this method.
Velcro and duct tape
If you can use duct tape or velcro on the surfaces of the furniture without damaging or leaving marks, these two household items can do a great job of picking up pet hair.
Vacuum cleaner
Use a vacuum cleaner with the included attachments to remove dirt, grime, and pet hair from your furniture. Gently glide the attachment across the furniture being careful to not press to hard to drag the attachment across the fabric. This method works great as an initial step in removing pet hair and as an extra step after trying the other methods. Think of the vacuum as the detailing part of removing hair from furniture.
Trying these methods of removing animal hair from your furniture will not only minimize the amount of hair left behind on your furniture but also make it easier to remove any animal hair that does show up. Regular brushing of your pet's coat goes a long way to keeping excess hair off your furniture and regular cleaning keeps pet hair from accumulating all over the place.
