Can you make a living with paid surveys?

by Jennifer Moore

Created on: February 23, 2009

Depending on what your definition of making a living is, a person could indeed make a living with paid surveys. The type of person who could do this, the kind of living they would be making and how are questionsl to consider. There are in fact companies that will pay you to complete surveys for them. Depending on what company you use, you could make as much as $100 for a one hour survey, similarly, you could do the same survey or one similar and get paid only an entry into a sweepstakes. Yes, you read that correctly, an entry into a sweepstakes for an hour of work. So who are these people who make a living with paid surveys, what kind of living do they make and how do they do it?

In order to make a living with paid surveys, one would have to be a pretty hard core survey taker (a.k.a. panelist or respondent). This means you would have to be content answering question after question for a considerable amount of time. This alone is difficult because answering many of the same questions repeatedly makes it quite easy to lose interest. In addition to answering so manyrepetetive questions, you have to pay attention, simply scrolling down the page randomly selecting choices will not get you far as many survey companies have trick questions placed throughout the survey to detect this sort of fraud.

Those who do complete surveys for a living (or at least source of income) do not make the equivalent to a high paying executive's salary. Most make enough to get by and possibly enough to get by comfortably. So why doesn't everyone do this if it is in fact possible? Well, many pepole get so frusterated and turned off by the multitude of scams out there they give up. Others find legitimate companies but sign up for so many that it becomes overwhelming to try and complete all of the surveys they are offered. And many find legitimate companies but decide that the payout is not worth the effort required to successfully complete the surveys.

If you're interested in making money with surveys, there are a few things to be aware of and keep in mind. First of all, never pay to get paid. Secondly, surveys are an excellent way to try free stuff and earn a little extra cash but they are not a way to get rich quick and for the vast majority, will not be lucrative enough to be a single source of income. Thirdly, until you learn how to spot a scam, look for sites that can offer recommendations for free a good one to try is 10xmore. Lastly but not least, be aware of scams as there are plenty of them check to see if the site you are interested in is on a scam list like SurveyPolice before signing up.
