Should you wait? The best time to get married

If you are asking yourself if you should wait to be married as you are walking down an aisle towards an Elvis impersonator after a few drinks then I would have to say yes, waiting will be in your favor. However if you are dating someone for a while and you are not sure or even if you are already engaged then there are a few things you should think about before walking down the aisle.

When you're in love everything seems perfect. Little things are ignored and big things are put off for later. When you are dating and thinking about getting married you should be asking yourself a lot of questions and giving yourself honest answers. After all if you are going to be married to this person for the rest of your life you don't want any what ifs because that causes trouble down the line.

Do you want the same things in life as your partner? Kids, career, no career, where do you want to live? Basic things like these can be misconstrued by what you're doing at the moment. The only way to know for sure is to talk about it and really be honest if your ideas are different that doesn't mean you're not meant to be it just means that more work will have to be done to make both people happy.

Do you get along the great majority of the time? You may think that's if you didn't get along most of the time then you wouldn't be thinking about marriage but I've seen people that fought most of the time get married thinking that getting married would solve the relationship issues, it doesn't it just makes it expensive to get out of the relationship.

Do you like doing things together? Some people like being together just not going out together. While it is important that you have a social life and persue your own interrests that you have that you partner don't share it is also important to do things together. Eating dinner and watching TV doesn't count. You need to be able to share interrests with each other and support each other even if it's just once in a while.

Most important do you love this person? You have to be sure its not lust or infatuation but real love. When you build a relationship on real love, true love, whatever you want to call it, nothing can break you apart. You will know without a doubt that person is the one for you. It's not something that can be manufactured from necessity, money, power or anything superficial. It last through everything, good and bad.
