Advantages of the Internet

In the past two decades, there has been a revolution as to how people share information with each other. Using computers to network millions of people to each other worldwide, humanity has never been closer to each other. We can send messages to each other faster than ever, communication is much easier, and our entire economy has been streamlined like never before. Thanks to the Internet we can find items in Florida that might not be sold anywhere else, and we can find it, buy it, and have it delivered in days. The world has become a much smaller place thanks to the Internet, and offers many advantages.

Remember the days before e-mail? I don't but if you do, I'm sure it couldn't have been much fun, to have to wait for snail mail to take days to get a message to another person. Whether it be paying a bill, sending a birthday card, or whatever purpose the message was for, it seems like it took an eternity. Think of all the things you can do now in an instant, like say happy birthday, send a card, send a gift card, or anything else that you feel like saying.

Shopping on-line is also a very convient thing. No longer do you have to go to the store to look at furniture, or buy a car, or a computer. You can just look at the products on-line, compare the prices to other places, and do all your shopping from your computer. You can shop 24-7, and you can even get financed on-line as well. What could be easier than that? It is a great way to kill time late at night when I can't think of anything to write, or just feel like seeing what TV's are out there.

I found a job on-line, and without the Internet I would have no clue it existed. When I went to hotjobs.com to find some local listings, I found a good job in the area. I applied for, and had the job in a couple of weeks, and thanks to the Internet, my wallet was full, and I was happy. All it took was a few clicks, and a copy of my resume was sent off, with my cover letter and everything else too.

The Internet is great because it saves resources. It saves time because everything is so fast, and streamlined for you, and it saves paper because of all the ways documents can be digitally shipped. When I was in college, I didn't print many papers, instead I just saved them to the server, and e-mailed them to the professor. Not only did that save a trip to the professors office to deliver the paper, but it allowed later deadlines for the papers, as an e-mail only takes a few seconds to deliver. You could send your paper in at midnight, and you don't have to bother anyone with it.

Getting your name out there is much easier thanks to the Internet. Thanks to websites like Facebook, or Myspace, you can get your name out to anyone who is willing to click on your name and accept you as a friend. Since the Internet is just one big marketing tool, you should be able to get a lot of friends, which translates to a lot of eyes looking at your work, or hearing your voice on-line.

The Internet is the wave of the future, and without it I think I would be lost. I can't imagine not going on-line first thing in the morning to check my e-mail, go on Facebook, and see if I have any message on AIM. It allows me to keep in touch with my friends, and keep tabs on things like never before. I am really glad someone invented this, and hope that it never goes out of style.
