Why writers write

Writing is an art. It takes special talent to write effectively. You cannot be a great writer if you hate writing or are only semi-passionate about it. There is a love for the written word that every truehearted writer feels. That is why writers write.

It is at a very early age that we determine whether we love to read or if we hate it. Those that hate it stay far away from anything written. Those that love it aspire to write with the same grace as those that preceded them. What makes writers love to pen their words is their love for words. To follow in the footpath of the great authors that carved their names into the history of Classic novels would be an inspiration to anyone that loves to write.

To pen such eloquent words onto paper (or into a word processor) that it makes others feel and see exactly what is going on at the moment is something to get passionate about. If you are a talented writer, you can draw others into a different world where they can experience something they may not otherwise have gotten the chance to.

Here is an example:

At the age of thirteen, I was required to do a book report. I had fallen out of love with reading for several years but the passion still burned within. The book that was given to me to read was "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens. As most avid readers know, Mr. Dickens was one of the great Authors of many classic novels.

As I began reading the tale of this little boy who was in such terrible trouble, I was caught up in the passages about his trials. Finding myself on the edge of the chair while perusing the chapter describing how Bill Sikes kills Nancy, I realized then that there was a need within myself to write things that encouraged people to have imaginations. To write as Charles Dickens was able to would be an amazing accomplishment.

There is no other explanation as to why writers write. Writers write because they find themselves fascinated by the written word. They strive to accomplish what they were drawn into. They strive to impassion others. They write because there is nothing that matters quite as much as the written word.

Writers love their job/hobby. They love to come up with new words and descriptions. To not only attempt but to accomplish the description of something as beautiful and breath taking as standing on a mountain top and breathing in the fresh air is not an easy task for those that don't love to write. It's is a different story to those that do love to write. An accomplished writer can describe that feeling so well that the reader feels they are on that mountaintop as they feel the fresh air fill their lungs.

Being a writer takes great dedication. A person who is a writer at heart will probably never become rich, although that is possible. It takes hard work and a conviction that is unwavering. You must love the art in order to do it well. You must pull out your imagination and use it as though it has never been used before.

Writers write because they want to share the information that they have stored in their heads. They love to learn about new things, people and places. Reading is their companion for life. A great writer writes because they need to get the things in their head out. A writer's greatest hope is that they teach someone something along the way. They love to give the gift of imagination. What greater job could someone have than to teach and spark interest in others?
